Jared & The Mill
Here’s a preview of our single that we are releasing before our trip out to Austin for South by Southwest.
We had such an awesome week of music! It’s been amazing playing in Jared & The Mill with my best friends, and this week was particularly sweet. We had a great turn out of local fans for our show at Pub Rock alongside some great acts, The Senators, PALMS, The HIll in Mind, and Old Hours. We enjoyed teaching kids about our instruments as guest speakers for Mrs. Canter’s (my sister’s) 1st grade class, these kids were great! We had a lot of great feedback from the kind students at Arizona State, playing for them on camups and promoting our show, opening for Flogging Molly on St. Paticks day next month. We also look forward to playing at Crescent Ballroom with some great bands on the 25th. ALSO, we can’t wait to play at South by Southwest this coming month in Austin Texas. Some great things are happening thanks to our terrific friends, family, and fans. You guys are the best.

“Brave Young Man”
Last summer our good friend Clayton filmed us performing some of our then new songs at the Eye Lounge in Phoenix, Arizona. We have come along way since then but its fun to look back at some of our old projects and look forward to the new ones. Clayton has since moved on to New York where he works for the Daily Show. Pretty neat. Thanks for listening.

Jared & The Mill
Here’s one of our songs you’ll here on the 22nd. Sound quality is a little off but you get the idea.
My band Jared & The Mill will be headlining at Pub Rock on the night of the 22nd. If youre in the Phoenix area make sure your soup rations are stocked and your basements are secure so you can come check us out for some good ol’ music after the apocalypse.
I’ve heard people come up with a whole load of different ideas of exactly what this song is about, if you got one of your own let me know. Here’s a hint: It’s been said that ‘Rose’ and ‘Caroline’ are the same person.
Ryan Adams and The Cardinals BBC4 Sessions Summer 2007
This song has always been a favorite Ryan tune of mine. His story telling ability is flawless and this song showcases the shit out it. Still one of the most played songs on my ipod. Enjoy, and check out all the tunes on the BBC4 sessions, its an amazing set.
Carolina Rain - Ryan Adams
Rose lived on the south side of town
Until her landlord showed up with two hundred dollar bills
A notice of eviction on the other hand
Now she don’t live there no more,
And everyone thinks he drowned,
I pulled into Mecklenburg on them trains
Into a station that got flooded when they opened up the dam
And broke their connections to the railway lines
So they could blast into the quarry,
And for every load of granite,
We got a ton of worry
One night at the diner over eggs,
Over easy she showed me the length of her legs,
But that gold plated cross on her neck, it was real
And you don’t get that kind of money from pushing meal
I should’ve told him that you were the one for me,
But I lied, But I lied,
To most any drifter whose looking for work is too weird
I met Percy and I married her in July
But if only to be closer to you, Caroline
Percy and I moved down the street
Until we lost two pretty girls
One was seven and one was three
Alderman and Caroline owned the house right up the hill
Where we laid those babies down
So they could still see our house
Suspicion got the best of old Alderman Haint
He owned an auto parts store off the interstate
But the lord took him home in July
And then Rose spilled the beans on the day that he died
I should’ve told him that you were the one for me
But I lied, But I lied
Tied up to concrete at the bottom of the quarry
With a tattoo on his heart that spelled out “Caroline”
He was silent but his rosary
Drifted into the custody
Of a sheriff that was just deputized
And I was down at the banquet hall
When two guys came up, pretty angry and drunk
And I’m still here at the banquet hall
At the banquet hall
Where the gun went off, in the Carolina Rain
In the Carolina Rain, in the Carolina Rain
So this is rad.
He’s My Brother She’s My Sister - “How’m I gonna get back home tonight?”
“No Go” - Aaron Embry
“When All Is Gone” Aaron Embry
If you love harmonica drenched folk singer/songwriters you will love Aaron Embry. I ran into some of his recordings a few months ago, and ever since I have been impatiently awaiting his new solo record Tiny Prayers, set to release this month (sept.18). Embry’s tunes fill your soul up like a funeral, evoking a wonderful sense of calm suffering that brings to mind every memory you tried to remeber, and some you’ve tried to forget. His honest piano and tenor guitar blend perfectly with his blood gutting harmonica licks. This is americana, this is folk, this is everything I love about American music and at its finest. Enjoy.
