“I am happy to have made my exit for a life without the constant measuring, where what I love is not judged by the crowd of faceless and nameless critics. Be Careful with your dreams. Life is sweet but never long” - Ryan Adams
A few more photos I took at the recording studio. What a blast.
Ryan Adams and the Cardinals: A View of Other Windows, is a beautiful collection of personal photography taken by lead guitarist Neal Casal during his years of recording and touring with the RAC. It speaks to the tortures and victories of life on the road, and the sleepless days of recording. I spent a good part of last night in my room flipping through the book once again and enjoyed it as much as the day I bought it. It also features a beautifully written introduction by Ryan Adams, as well as some words from the other band members and an amazing afterword by the legendary Phil Lesh. If you love Ryan Adams’ music you will love this book. Amazon and Barnes & Noble sell it for a kind price. Cheers.
This is also amazing.

“It’s not that simple” - Honeycutters
Here’s a good song to make your soul cry in the best of ways. My buddy Wes found this gem earlier today. Enjoy.
Alrighty, so my best friend Jared Kolesar is a singer songwriter and has been gettin a little folky lately. Here are two of his newest handcrafted, american made songs of Poppy/Folk goodness, along with our band The Hot Texas Funk (or any name you choose). Here you can see all of our dashing good looks on display, along with the fine guitar work of Mr. Larry, the stand up bass goodness of Mr. Chuck, the piano workings of our friend Mr. Branson, some fine snare and brush work from none other than Mr. Josh, and yours truly, Mr. Michael on Banjo and Mandolin. All filmed by our friend, and skillful film major, Clayton Porter. Enjoy. ( videos posted below ) (some photos posted as well).
Also, check out more of Jared’s music at his tumblr: jaredkolesar.tumblr.com

P.S. Jared and myself do a little acoustic entertaining at RA shushi on Mill Ave. in Tempe if you’re an Arizonan and looking for something to do on Thursday nights from 6-9pm
Monday Oct 10 @ 02:56pm with 41 notesIf your a Ray LaMontagne fan, or just a good person in general, you will enjoy this song. It’s a rough recording and theres a bunch of studio banter in the beginning (which I love) but at about 1:20 the song starts and man… is it good. Ray’s voice burns like bad whiskey, its a juxtaposition of contradictions, rough and gentle, raspy and smooth. His voice falls somewhere between tortured and saved, and leaves you feeling much the same. Enjoy.
When this fella plays he shows you his scars and asks all of us to take a good, loving look at our own. Enjoy.

“I love your face the way it moves your murky mouth your eyelid brooms, And I’m feeling that cobweb apprehension, You’re taking pictures of me as I fall down the stairs, And it seems so awful if not for my glasses and hair.” - Dear in the Headlights
This guy is a genius and screw anyone who says different.
Ryan Adams- Ashes And Fire (Live Acoustic Version from Holland)
With cool and silvery eyes
And a heart that was fit for desires
Drowned in a river of tears
The river she cried
With a heart made of ashes and fire…

“Pipe on in peace! Tomorrow must we die? What matter, if our life today be sweet! Soon, soon, the silver paper-reeds that sigh, Along the Sacred River will repeat!”
- Sir Edmund William Gosse (1849–1928)
Sunday Sep 9 @ 01:53pm with 6 notesPretty interesting video. I didn’t dig on the music to much but I dare you to not dig on the camera work. Pretty awesome. Enjoy.
