On Request from Anonymous: Heres some photos of...
This was by far one of the cooler things I’ve done in my life, right up there with visiting Europe. I loved this trip, and I still think about it all the time. We climbed Mt. Albert in British Columbia. We started at sea level and worked our way up over the course of a week. The best part was crossing this huge glacier before climbing up the final peak. One of the more physically...

Good Films: Winter's Bone
I watched the film Winter’s Bone last night with my girlfriend and our good friend Skyler and I really enjoyed it. ”An unflinching Ozark Mountain girl hacks through dangerous social terrain as she hunts down her drug-dealing father while trying to keep her family intact.”(IMDB.com) The film moves slow, and besides a few random peaks in excitement, remains fairly consistent in...

Good Music: Marideth Sisco (featured in Winter's...
Marideth Sisco has a voice that reminds you of fried okra, and that delicious-warm slice of whatever that your grandmother use to make for you. Her voice speaks from a different time, a time where a day of hard work was ended with the soft pat of your hand upon your knee, as the radio drummed on with bluegrass inspired gospel, reattaching the faith you had in the kinder times that were surely...

Elihu Vedder: Illustration
Personal Favorite of mine, Elihu Vedder. This guy’s work is amazing. His paintings are great but his illustrations are what fancy me. I had the pleasure of seeing some of it in person at the Phoenix Art Museum a year or two ago. Plus, good ol’ Elihu Vedder himself sports an amazing mustache.

Hunting this weekend was bliss
I was in nature and it was as amazing as it always is. It seems fruitless and stupid to try and capture this in words, though I’m sure in some random, future journal entry I will attempt to one day. For now… -Bliss- will do. I saw a few animals running around, but did not find the deer I was looking for. I also came to the realization of something while out hunting. One can assume...

“It doesn’t happen all at once,” said the Skin Horse. “You become. It takes a long time. That’s why it doesn’t happen often to people who break easily, or have sharp edges, or who have to be carefully kept. Generally, by the time you are Real, most of your hair has been loved off, and your eyes drop out and you get loose in the joints and very shabby. But these things don’t matter at all…”

“Well now, when the soul wanders there are things a man must see. There are trials he must know and there are troubles he must meet. He must stare in the eyes of evil and know that he is free. ‘Til the good lord calls, keep on wanderin’” - Justin Townes Earle
