I came across this in my computer journal. I wrote...
Dec. 1st 2010   The harsh winter wind stirs the pinewoods, and silent water ripples sweet cadences over its mossy stones. Light snow falls, dances like ash in the dim sunshine, and from everywhere arises the gentle hum of early winter. It is so quiet and peaceful, and I sit here, and ponder, and am restless. It is not the silence that unease’s me. It seems unreal. All the world is quiet, but only...

I used to live in hotels. Because I thought it was...
I have an idea of how that sounds, so spare me. I can go on here and reveal that I mean I lived “in” them, as in weeks, sometimes months, eventually for over a year, but – trust me – I know how that sounds, so, again, spare me. I tell myself, and other people, now that I thought it was romantic, but I am beginning to see the lies. They unfold over time like wet newspaper and there’s always a...

Construction + Arizona = 2 Gallons Of Water And I...
I love Arizona, I really do, and I almost never complain about the heat here but really, Arizona, take it easy.  I work Construction, and today on the job site it was 118 Degrees.  I drank 2 gallons of water and didn’t pee all day.  I literally poured a cup of sweat out of my boots before getting into my truck.  Arizona, please, I love you, just give a guy a break.

Good Music: Damien Jurado - Anais Mitchell
I’ve been listening to these songs quite a bit this week.  Damien Jurado is awesome.  His song, “Best Dress” sings like a conversation, or an argument rather between a man and his lover.  It whispers and flows like a western tragedy, and the old-timey style lyrics are carried by modern bang and crash style drumming.  Its ominous, dark, and I love it.  Anais Mitchell’s,...

I'll Fly Away
Today is going to be a beautiful day.  I woke up in the cool Flagstaff home of my long time friend Matthew this morning completely at peace.  Jared and myself sat on the couches in silence, enjoying the warmth of the sun that came through the patio windows.  The house was just a little bit chilly from leaving the windows open, and the peaceful breeze outside, coupled with the cool morning air and...

Today is Great
Today… Today is a great day.  I went to my summer school class this morning and really enjoyed it.  Our lab was on mammal skeletal systems and we worked with real models.  I rode my new bike (which is one of my newest favorite processions) to Solo Cafe and finished my homework.  I took the long way home through the old historic neighborhood, and across the canal enjoying what was left of the...

Good Music: Justin Townes Earle
I skipped over this song the other day while digging for some new artist.  I love Americana music, but I had never given this guy a good listen.  As I was searching I found this song of his, and carried on without giving it a chance.   I went back the other day and listened to it while doing some paper work in my kitchen.  This song is amazing.  The lyrics are really simple, but they cut deep....

Drink like a Monk: Chimay Beer is Happiness.
If anyone who follows me has had the pleasure, Neigh, the privilege of drinking one of Chimay Breweries fine Trappist beers please speak up. If not, take a listen. I have been drinking Chimay since my trip to Europe 3 years ago and I still gotta say,  THEY ARE AMAZING.  Now I’m no beer snob, but I really love beer, and to this day Chimay beer is still a favorite of mine....

Black Eyes and Sore Ribs
Today, at 1’oclock, I have a full contact Mixed Martial Arts fight scheduled.  I will be paid 200 dollars to go 5 rounds with a Mr. Miguel Rivera to help him prepare for his fight in August.  For the past 2 years I have been on a nifty little list of sparring partners that Arizona trainers use to pair against their fighters.   Typically they choose a man of similar weight, height, and style...

I love this song.  It kills me in the best of ways.  I love Ryan Adams music, and this seldom known song from his Whiskey Town days is amazing.  ENJOY!

This guys tattoo work is amazing.  I searched his blog through the suggestion of a friend the other day.  I must have spent and hour looking at all of his work.  I love black and white tattoo’s and the images he creates on people are like none I’ve ever seen.  His line work is incredible.  Click on the link below the photos to see his blog. Good Music: Once again Shovels and Rope
I posted these guys about a month ago.  A married couple that tours around the east coast and the deep south singing their songs.  I love these guys.  The way she smiles at him a few seconds into the song.  I dont know how to explain it but one day… When im ready… I want a marriage like that.  I love her voice… like a grittier Dolly Parton with a little more baggage.  So good.

Good Music: The Raconteurs: featuring Ricky Skaggs...
This song Old Enough can be found on the Raconteurs album: Counselors of the Lonely, but not at all in this format.  The Raconteurs, their front man Jack White (a hero of mine), Ricky Skaggs (bluegrass legend) and Ashley Monroe, created this bluegrass rendition of Old Enough that i love ever so dearly.  I grew up with bluegrass and listen to it regularly, so to hear a rock band that i truly love...
